I have a 1956 60 johndeere gas tractor that keeps getting gas in the crankcase when running. Could it be the float has a pin hole in it. I can't run the tractor this way so I am looking for a fix. Thankyou.

Hi Kevin,
I don't think that the gas is getting into the crankcase while the engine is RUNNING. If the float is "sinking" and the tractor still runs, it would be running very rich. You would get black smoke out the exhaust, the engine would run rough, and you might even smell gas, but it would still go UP, out the exhaust stack.
If the float is bad, or the float valve is bad, your gas is getting into the crankcase while the engine is NOT running. Take a look HERE.
