Leaves, showing bold colours Reflective of summer sun Warm golds, sunsets and bronze earth Scattered thick in a kaleidoscope of richness A patchwork crazy quilt covering the ground To warm her through winter cold. Trees, half bare have kissed The earth with brightness Now the need for summer shade Has passed. The sun this Sunday glows And warms the rime of frost that lay On beach and sidewalk and forest path. Whispers of summer winds that blew These leaves in their green majesty Now echo underfoot as I stride In tandem to the rhythm Of bright paddles dipping In the glassy, clear lake. As other souls seek what pleasure This Autumn day can bring. C.J.T. Oct. 5, 2006 |
